A Dreamplay
Written by August Strindberg
In a new translation by Paul Walsh
Directed by Rob Melrose
May 20 – June 19, 2016
Welcome to the Heavens, home of the great god Indra and his curious daughter. In defiance of her father’s contempt for mankind and with her own heart full of compassion, the young goddess descends from her celestial home to walk amongst the human race. This robust and relentless examination of the human experience is set within a surreal dreamscape where all things are possible and rules don’t apply. It is the first play to be written in the form of a dream and was the forerunner to a century of dream-inspired work.
Founding Artistic Director Rob Melrose and translator Paul Walsh, the collaborative duo behind 2012’s epic Strindberg Cycle, team up once more to bring Strindberg’s insightful and rugged poeticism to the Cutting Ball stage.
